Jobbsprånget – a leap into the Swedish job market for newcomer academics

Jobbsprånget is a nationwide internship program that connects academics who have newly arrived in Sweden with employers in need of their competence. After completing the internship 70 percent of the candidates get a job. 

Do you have an academic degree in engineering, architecture, science or business/finance?Are you new in Sweden without a professional network and looking for a way to connect with Swedish employers? If so, apply to Jobbsprånget! 

Jobbsprånget is a four-month-long internship program run by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). The program connects you with Swedish employers in need of your competence. Currently, 150 employers are participating in the program and internships are offered all over the country. 

The purpose of the program is to speed up the entry to the Swedish job market and give you a chance to show your potential. The program gives you valuable contacts, relevant experience and a chance to meet Swedish colleagues and friends. 7 out of 10 get a job after the internship.

Applications are open twice a year: December 16 – January 16 for internships during the spring and July 16 – August 16 for internships during the fall. 

Who can apply?

In order to apply to Jobbsprånget you have to fulfil the following criteria: 

  • You have a degree in engineering, architecture, science or economics/business administration.
  • You have proficient English language skills.
  • You are registered at Arbetsförmedlingen and part of the establishment program (Etableringen) or the job and development program (JOBEN) 
  • You are a college graduates born outside of Europe (even other foreign graduates, but not with student visa)
