Do you make a list of essentials you have to take with you before you actually go out with your kid? Moms in Sweden! I’ve realized there are many components you have to consider before you leave the house. Here you can find some suggestions especially if you are living in the capital.
One thing that I can remember of my single life in a big city is that I didn’t make or needed a list of anything. Life was so easy back then. My city essentials were my house keys, the debit card, my id, my phone and a handbag. Just 5 items.
Life as a new mom in Sweden
Life as new mom in Sweden, who loves to go out, has turned out to be at least a 30-minute routine just to pack the essentials to take with me for my kid on my daily trips everywhere.
In this routine and before I start packing, I ask myself some questions:
- How is the weather?
- Where are we going? Have we been there before?
- How long does it take to go there?
- How long are we going to stay?
- Can I take my stroller? Where can I park my stroller?
These questions help me know what to pack. If you are just starting in your new role as a mom it could be helpful to have your list on paper or on your phone. I used to have one but now it’s part of my system so I check off every item in my head and before I leave the house I double check them again. Cuckoo, right? Yes, but these handy things can save your life and sanity especially when the average time to travel to the city centre is 30 minutes. This calculation is based on public transportation.
Here is my list of basic items for chilly spring. It’s important to mention that this list is mostly for my kid who is almost 2 years and it can vary depending on the age of your kid(s), the season and the place(s) you are going. This list is not mandatory so feel free to add your own items
For mom
- A wristwatch for my hand to keep track of my steps and have a sense of the time.
- Warm hat
- A pair of gloves
- One scarf
- One water bottle
- One padlock which can help you with public lockers.
- One rain poncho or an umbrella
For my kid
A backpack filled with
- One Warm Hat
- A pair of gloves
- One scarf
- One water bottle
- One bottle of milk
- At least 2 diapers
- One package of Baby wet wipes
- Extra clothing for accidents
- Snacks
- Toys or Books
For the stroller
- One long padlock. Bike locks can work especially if they are long.
- One rain cover for your stroller
- One dish brush to clean the wheels of your stroller before you enter the house
So, there you have it moms in Sweden – my city essentials. Now you know a bit more about what you need for your day out in the city. What are your essentials?
Looking forward to reading your comments.
See you out There!
